Rosie Dwyer, M.A.

Expert Researcher | Creative Thinker | PhD Candidate

I use research, analysis and creative thinking—skills I honed working in both media and academia—to help universities, nonprofits and purpose-driven companies better connect with their audiences.

I’ve supported a number of key projects at major media companies over the course of my career. Some favorites: I fact-checked for Harper’s Magazine’s “Findings” section and wrote research briefs for Katie Couric’s interviews with Marco Rubio and Bernie Sanders at Yahoo! News.

My writing has been featured at national conferences and in journals, including the American Musicological Society, the Cultural Studies Association, Foundry, and Dancecult (forthcoming, Fall 2025). Even better—it’s won me thousands of dollars from major research institutes, including the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation!

And while she might not have the name recognition of Andrew W. Mellon, a client of mine recently gushed, “You did such a good job at making my landing copy simple, clear, and direct!”

As you can tell, I have an unusual background for a communications specialist. I worked in media for over two years in New York City (Harper’s Magazine and Yahoo! News), and then I spent eight years at the University of California San Diego, researching niche topics in music and philosophy, earning an M.A. (2018) and working towards a Ph.D. (expected fall 2025).

While it may be unusual, my background as a humanities PhD candidate is my biggest strength. I know how to find data, analyze that data, and tell a story with that data. All of this is critical to producing strong writing of every genre. Also, I have those harder-to-define traits characteristic of PhDs: curiosity, an ability to learn new concepts overnight, and an obsessive commitment to quality. When you work with me, you can trust me to deliver the best work and to deliver it on time—having been revised 8+ times, with sources documented and strategy appended.

So let’s get started—I love making your communication operations a bit rosier.🌹
